The organizing committee for the BLIA, the R.O.C. chapter was formed in 1990, followed by a formal inauguration in the Dr. Yatsen's Memorial Hall on February 3, 1991. On March 31, 1991, BLIA Los Angeles USA was inaugurated at Hsi Lai Temple, followed by the establishment of chapters in Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, France, Brazil, Paraguay and South Africa.

Buddha's Light International Association of Queensland (BLIAQ) was then formally form in 1992. Till the present it consists of seven sub-chapters, and three Youth groups. Follow the aim of its founding master BLIAQ also propagates the idea of Humanistic Buddhism and often conducts a variety of activities, which have been well accepted and recognized by the local sectors.
