- BODHISATTVA
HALL
The Bodhisattva hall is dedicated to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Kuan Yin),
the manifestation of compassion within us all. A Bodhisattva is a person
who, through perfect love, is self-committed to liberating all living beings
from suffering. There are Bodhisattva statues with many hands. These hands
represent a Bodhisattva's ability to help sentient beings in a variety of
ways according to each individual's need.
- MEDITATION
HALL
Chung Tian Temple's meditation hall enshrines Sakyamuni Buddha. It is a
haven for monastic and lay people alike who seek inner peace through meditation.
This type of practice disciplines the body and mind to create a healthier
being, and to cultivate wisdom. Except during retreats, the hall is open
to anyone. In keeping with tradition, visitors must maintain silence and
respect.
- MUSEUM
Chung Tian Temple houses a substantial collection of Buddha and Bodhisattva
statues, Dharma instruments, Chinese calligraphic works, paintings, crafts,
and other Asian artifacts. New themes and special displays are periodically
showcased. Prior exhibits have focused on Chinese antiques and the Qin Dynasty
terra cotta army. The museum is an educational resource, helping to cross
cultural barries.
- LOTUS
TREASURY WORLD
The Lotus Treasury World represents the Pure Land of Vairocana, which is
also the Pure Land of all Buddhas in their sambhogakaya, or "enjoyment bodies."
It is so named because of the thousand-petal lotus envisioned growing -in
this Land. Floating on a sea of fragrant water, the lotus stores a myriad
world in each petal. Contemplation of these worlds within worlds leads to
a more profound understanding of total emptiness!
